Privacy Policy

Nomsters ("the App") is developed by Ryan Cowan. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Data stored on your device only

Food logs — meals you log, calorie/macro information, timestamps
Companion data — your companion's name, stage, Noms, hatch history
App preferences — goals, fasting schedule, unit preferences, layout settings
Water intake — daily water tracking data
Exercise logs — workouts you record within the app

This data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. At present, this information is not uploaded to any server as part of normal app use.

Data accessed with your permission

Camera — used to photograph food for AI scanning and to scan nutrition labels. Photos are processed and discarded; they are not stored on our servers.
Apple Health (HealthKit) — we read your daily step count to reward Noms for walking. We do not write any data to Apple Health.

Data processed server-side

AI Food Scanning — when you use the camera scanner, your photo is sent to our secure server (Supabase Edge Function) which forwards it to OpenAI's Vision API for food identification. The image is processed in real-time and not stored after the response is returned.
Food search — text food searches are sent to our server for AI-powered nutritional lookup. No personal information is included in these requests.
Device ID — a randomly generated anonymous identifier stored on your device, used solely to enforce daily free scan limits. This ID cannot be linked to your identity.

2. Sign In with Apple

If you choose to sign in, we receive your Apple ID token and optionally your name and email (if you choose to share them). This is used to create an account for cloud sync and purchase restoration. You can use the App without signing in.

3. Purchases

Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases are handled entirely through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not process or store any payment information. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to manage entitlements.

4. Analytics & Tracking

Nomsters does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not use the App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track users.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. The only third-party services that process data are:

OpenAI — processes food photos for identification (images are not stored)
RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements (anonymous user IDs only)
Supabase — hosts our server-side functions (no personal data stored)

6. Data Retention

All food logs, companion data, and preferences are stored on your device. Deleting the App removes all local data. Server-side, we do not retain any personal data — food scan images are discarded immediately after processing.

7. Children's Privacy

Nomsters is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all data by uninstalling the App. For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
